What does it take to lead the design of some of the world's most technically demanding built environments? As a Principal Design Manager, you'll sit at the intersection of engineering excellence, client strategy, and team leadership, shaping how complex projects are delivered from concept to completion.
What You'll Achieve
- Lead end-to-end design management on high-value projects, ensuring delivery on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards
- Build and sustain trusted client and stakeholder relationships that drive repeat business and long-term partnerships
- Mentor and develop multidisciplinary design teams, creating a culture of performance and professional growth
- Oversee sub-consultant management, contract administration, and integrated design programmes
- Steer projects through statutory approvals, planning processes, and authority consultations
- Contribute directly to business development, commercial planning, and the continued growth of the practice
- BEng in an appropriate engineering discipline; Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Chartered Project Professional (ChPP) status
- 10 years' experience at Senior Engineer level or above
- Proven track record delivering high-value projects with fees up to £5m
- Professional membership — MCIBSE, MIET, IMechE or equivalent
- Strong command of Microsoft Project or equivalent programming tools
- Commercial and contractual awareness, including working knowledge of contract law
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills
- Willingness to travel internationally to support global project delivery
- Leadership role with genuine influence over project strategy and team direction
- Exposure to landmark, technically complex projects within specialist sectors
- A collaborative, values-driven culture built on integrity and innovation
- London-based role with international project reach
