We are seeking a Data Centre Design Manager to lead our engineering and architectural strategy in the world’s leading connectivity hub. Frankfurt remains the heart of the FLAP-D market, and this role offers the opportunity to navigate one of the most sophisticated and high-density data centre landscapes globally.
Based in the "Mainhattan" region, you will balance high-level technical oversight with a hybrid working model, collaborating with our central Frankfurt office and managing site-specific design challenges across the Rhine-Main metropolitan area.
The RoleAs the Design Manager for our Frankfurt portfolio, you will be responsible for the end-to-end design lifecycle of Tier III and IV facilities. You will navigate the unique challenges of the German market, from stringent energy efficiency mandates to complex urban planning requirements.

The RoleAs the Design Manager for our Frankfurt portfolio, you will be responsible for the end-to-end design lifecycle of Tier III and IV facilities. You will navigate the unique challenges of the German market, from stringent energy efficiency mandates to complex urban planning requirements.
- Design Governance: Lead the design process through all HOAI phases (1-9), ensuring technical excellence and strict adherence to German building codes (Bauordnungen).
- Power & Efficiency: Drive the design of high-availability power systems and innovative cooling solutions tailored to the Hessian climate, with a focus on achieving a market-leading PUE.
- Heat Recovery Initiatives: Oversee the integration of waste-heat recovery systems (Abwärmenutzung) to align with Frankfurt’s evolving sustainability and district heating goals.
- Connectivity & Interconnects: Optimise designs for ultra-low latency and carrier-neutral environments, leveraging Frankfurt’s position as home to DE-CIX.
- Statutory Liaison: Manage relationships with local authorities (Bauamt), grid operators, and environmental agencies to ensure seamless permitting and compliance.
- Engineering Background: Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering. Membership in a relevant professional body (e.g., VDI) is highly regarded.
- Frankfurt Market Expertise: 5 years of experience in data centre design, with a deep understanding of the Frankfurt/Hesse regulatory environment.
- Sustainability & Standards: Familiarity with Uptime Institute Tiering, LEED/BREEAM, and the German "Blue Angel" (Blauer Engel) eco-label for data centres.
- Language Proficiency: Professional fluency in English is essential for navigating local technical documentation and international stakeholder meetings. German is a strong advantage
- BIM Leadership: Advanced proficiency in Revit and Navisworks for multidisciplinary coordination and clash detection.
