It has been a turbulent year for many businesses and employees across the country. It's strange to think that one year ago the UK had gone into its first national lockdown due to Covid19 and we were getting to grips with working from home for the first time.
1 year on, the whole team have been working hard throughout, despite challenges in the market, working at home with family, newborns, and pets!
The way we work has changed for everyone this past year and working from home full time has become a reality for many because of the covid19 pandemic. At Eligo we were sceptical at first, but we’ve seen the team rise to the challenge and thrive at home working from across the UK and internationally. (with some of our Eligoids based in Italy, Poland, and Bulgaria)
We recently asked our LinkedIn audience what their preference for office working was since going into Lockdown with results showing the majority would prefer a 50/50 remote and office work balance.
We also asked, what their reasons would be for continuing to work from home with the majority claiming the availability of flexible working hours and the chance to avoid the daily commute.
These results show mixed views on returning to work full time, with the majority hoping for a hybrid way of work. One that might go against the chancellor’s recent announcement that employees may quit if forced to work from home.
Celebrating despite the challenging times
We recently celebrated our end of Quarter and end of the financial year, celebrating the team's sales and achievements. Usually, we celebrate in the office with a few drinks and games, and then we head to the local pub in Wimbledon.
But this year, due to COVID, we bought the celebration to each other’s homes with a virtual mixology class!
It was a great experience, and there were some cracking mixology skills on display. We were taught how to make 3 delicious cocktails as well as a little competition to make our own creation at the end!
Check out some of the team’s creations over on Instagram.
Looking ahead
We have embraced home working over the past year, and due to its success Eligoids are offered the freedom to choose where they work. Equally, nothing can take away that social aspect of work, chatting and laughing with colleagues. So, we are looking forward to returning to the office in some capacity when we can, to see each other in person!
What our team have to say about working for Eligo
Jaimie
“When it comes to the wellbeing of staff, Eligo have always taken a genuine interest, and this is why communication across the business works and is key in the workplace especially during these difficult times.
I work from home, and I love it. I am a disciplined person with a good work ethic and having the flexibility of wfh (I have kids), is just wonderful. The flexibility inspires me to give/do more, and I’m way happier.
The leadership and communication throughout Eligo have always been strong. The MD who I currently report into is an effective communicator, he checks in with me/us regularly, he is a very honest and transparent leader, something I truly respect him for.”
Anne
“Eligo genuinely has a real family feel but with the resources of a large agency. In the nine years I’ve been an “Eligoid”, things have evolved, grown and improved year-on-year with the constant adoption of state-of-the-art resources and up-to-date tech. This has really helped us to continue to be the best at what we do whilst encouraging independence and flexible working.
I can’t stress enough what a hugely supportive and friendly environment Eligo is. We all support each other through the good and the tricky times, be it work or personal. I have been truly touched by this over the years, including of course across the last year where the encouragement and constant positivity from the top downwards has been incredible.”
Mattia
“My experience at Eligo started more than 5 years ago through the Academy and lead me to the Manager position for the International Division. This journey was possible because the Senior Management created a truly supportive working environment where the primary concern is to allow your talent and potential to flourish. In every step of my career progression, I was encouraged to push myself, given more responsibilities and guided when needed.
As crazy as it sounds, Eligo became my family in the UK and I’m Italian, so “family” is a word not to be used lightly. If you are interested in joining a great company with passionate professionals and amazing bosses, you are in the right place.”
