One of the highlights of the day was the chance for team members who don&rsquo;t often work closely to exchange ideas. These moments sparked new thinking, uncovered hidden challenges, and inspired some exciting next steps.
Of course, it wouldn&rsquo;t be a proper event without a few light-hearted moments. An unexpected feline guest made a surprise appearance mid-session, much to everyone&rsquo;s delight. There were plenty of laughs, some ice cream to keep us cool, and a celebratory pint in the sunshine to wrap up a productive day.

Eligo Recruitment Italia Launches New Website - Blending Global Expertise with Local Precision

Federica joined the team as a Junior Delivery Consultant last year with no recruitment background, since then she has done excellent work in learning all about recruitment whilst hitting her quarterly targets for Q2 &amp; Q3, continues to do well in helping the international team thrive, and has become a real asset to the team.

How long have you been working for Eligo? How did you start out in Recruitment?
My curiosity for recruitment and the HR sector started while attending an HR and Art management Masters Degree in Rome 2 years ago. After working within the arts sector in London I realized I needed a more challenging environment so started looking for a recruitment company that could suit my personality. And then I found Eligo!
&nbsp;
How do you start your workday? What&rsquo;s your favourite&nbsp;part of your work environment?
To be honest, I'm not really a morning person, so my workday usually starts in a rush to get ready and go to the office, but with a great will to go through the day.
The work environment is the perfect balance between friendly and professional. Our day starts with a team meeting to update each other on our daily plans (a great example of teamwork and a healthy environment!) and my day continues with research and making different calls to assist the candidates in any step.
What&rsquo;s the best lesson you have learned in your career so far?&nbsp;
To not take anything for granted. Sometimes a hopeless situation can turn into a great &ldquo;deal&rdquo;
&nbsp;
What&rsquo;s your biggest achievement/success in your career so far?
In my current role, I feel I have reached a good level of resiliency to working in recruitment, from accepting the ups and downs of a new career path and learning about recruitment, in particular, since it is mainly focused on human relationships it can be tricky at times but always rewarding.

My adventure with Eligo started 2 years and a half ago.
After graduating with a psychology degree in Italy, I decided to move to London considering the numerous opportunities that the city can offer. I was not sure yet about what I was looking for, but I wanted to challenge myself, curious about where a new environment would lead me.
After many searches and attempts, I found something that could be the perfect combination between my degree and my dynamic personality: the world of recruitment.
How do you start your workday?
Working in recruitment for me, basically means that you never get bored, not even one day in your career.
Despite mostly working from home after the pandemic,&nbsp;I have found the best way to manage daily activities and really rely on working together as a team.
After a good breakfast in the morning, we start with a team meeting, where we each share our daily activities and information about our candidate&rsquo;s process or general communications. Afterward, my daily focus is on keeping in touch with clients, following my candidates during the process, doing searches to find new candidates, whilst communicating with and supporting the rest of the team.
What&rsquo;s your favourite part of your work environment?
The People ☺
&ldquo;Find a job that you love and you'll never work a day in your life&rdquo; is even more true if you find the right people to work with.
Our strength, in fact, is definitely the relationships we have built with each other (not only with my team but with the entire company). London can be a really tough and dispersive city in terms of relationships, that&rsquo;s why I feel really lucky for having found this kind of supportive and friendly environment.
What kinds of resources have you taken advantage of working for Eligo and in the international team?
I have changed many jobs over the years, and noticed the thing that is not common to find is trust.
Even during the bad times, my managers and employers have always been there to support me, without feeling the need to give orders but instead finding the best way to communicate, help and teach you new skills.
The attention to the human side is definitely the aspect that made a significant contribution to my growth, not only technically but also in terms of soft skills.
What&rsquo;s your favourite thing about working in an international team? What is the team like?
The most interesting aspect of my job at Eligo, is that one of my natural skills gave me the opportunity to be considered for the job, just doing what I&rsquo;m able to do better: speaking Italian ☺
In fact, I believe that this is the most interesting thing about working in an international team: being in London and interfacing daily with different cultures without losing the connections with your native country.
About the team, as I mentioned before, we have built a very good relationship with each other and the collaboration between colleagues, regardless of the seniority itself, has always been the key to our success.
In fact, the best day of the week is definitely when I go to the office: we always have a good time together which is the key to loving your job, and our lunches are definitely the best ☺
What&rsquo;s the best lesson you have learned in your career so far?
Especially during the pandemic, the best lesson I learned has been how to bring out the best even during the bad times. Instead of giving up, they gave me the opportunity to challenge myself in a new way, learning a new approach to work and new strategies.
I truly believe that if you believe in something you can reach it, despite the difficulties, with good effort and tenacity.
What&rsquo;s your biggest achievement/success in your career so far?
My position at Eligo has evolved and changed a lot since I first started.
My current role is managing consultant, and as well as being the focal point for several clients, my role includes the ongoing support and communication with my team, exactly the position I was looking for.
Considering the fact that I started 2 years and a half ago which is not a very long time, the progression has been really fast, probably beyond the expectations and I know it will get even better and more exciting day by day. In fact, becoming independent on my job and having started to be the referent of the team thanks to people who have full trust in me, is definitely the biggest success in my career.
I still have many things to learn and improve upon, which makes my job even more interesting.

The day was filled with drinks, food, fun, and games and with many of the team not having seen each other for over a year,&nbsp; one big catchup was well overdue!

Eligo Medical expands to the Midlands

The effects of climate change have gifted us with a heatwave this week,&nbsp;with temperatures rising up to 37 degrees in the city.&nbsp;Causing&nbsp;rows over whether shorts are appropriate for work, and it feels like its&nbsp;almost too hot to even wear skin.
Heatwaves like this&nbsp;can take you back to a time or place like a past holiday at the beach, or your youth, water-balloon fights in the school holidays. All great right? Though for me, as well as these, it evokes memories of the District Line at 8 am in the morning on a sticky Summer&rsquo;s day, desperate to finally get to work. Thankfully those days are long gone and it got me thinking about all the reasons I don&rsquo;t miss the commute into the city.
If you grew up in London, it probably feels like a lifetime that you&rsquo;ve spent navigating cancellations, body odour, and giving up any sort of hope of a seat. If not, you probably moved to the big smoke bright-eyed, excited by the opportunity to grab a quick read of your book on that famous London establishment; the tube.

We’re growing! Another successful year for Eligo Medical Recruitment

Roses are red, violets aren&rsquo;t&nbsp;blue, and recruitment is that relationship looked down upon by those surrounding you.
Yep, recruitment sometimes doesn&rsquo;t have the best rap having gained a reputation from a select few as an industry that plays fast and loose, often doing no more than sending across a CV and bombarding the phone with calls. If we were casting industries for a Jane Austen novel, it&rsquo;s unlikely recruitment would be chosen to play Mr Darcy.
For those that love what they do in recruitment, however, it&rsquo;s an unfair reputation and often people don&rsquo;t understand the efforts and highs and lows that go into the job every day. As such we&rsquo;re abandoning the cheesy poems and asked some of the team here at Eligo what it was that they love about recruitment. From genuine joy to sarcasm highlighting the pitfalls of working in a people-centric market here&rsquo;s what they said.

A love letter to recruitment…

It&rsquo;s now almost 5 years since I joined a growing recruitment company based in Putney as a Mac Recruitment specialist. Since I&rsquo;ve seen it grow to a team of more than 25 people covering markets including Technology, Fire &amp; Security, Events, and Medical, and pick up many accolades along the way.
Last week along with some of my colleagues I attended the Merton Best Business Awards where Eligo had been selected finalists as Employer of the Year, on the night it turned out that not only were we awarded Employer of the Year but also Best Overall Business, so I thought there was no better time, and no one in a better place to write about what it&rsquo;s like working in recruitment at Eligo&nbsp;and just why those awards were so deserved.
There are literally hundreds of recruitment jobs and recruitment agencies out there looking for talented recruiters to join their ranks and earn lots of dough, but, hand on heart I&rsquo;d say Eligo is uniquely special and a place I feel I&rsquo;ve been particularly lucky to continually learn, work, do, and earn well. For me, this all starts at the top.
As one of the &ldquo;old-timers&rdquo; at Eligo, I&rsquo;ve known Andy and John for a long time and have seen their vision grow with the company. Like many recruiters, they grew tired of old-school heavy handed sales techniques and severe micro-management and started the company as a place where people would enjoy their recruitment jobs. In my own personal experience, this has always been the case. It&rsquo;s rare to find management that know how to run a business both fairly and well, treating each employee as their own person with their own needs. You&rsquo;re given enough acknowledgment and respect to do your job properly, and regularly invited to provide ideas which are both embraced and adopted so that you feel you are constantly contributing to not only the success of your own desk but the growth of the organisation too.
 
 
Working in recruitment you experience a number of characters. Recruitment satirist<a style="color: rgb(229, 40, 125);" href="https://www.hunted.com/blog/ed-hunter-the-usual-recruitment-suspects-pt-1-2/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">&nbsp;Ed Hunter provided a very funny generalisation on this in one of his blogs</a>, however, at Eligo these stereotypes aren&rsquo;t so evident. There&rsquo;s a term which I think goes back right to the early days of Eligo&nbsp;for the people who work here, &ldquo;Eligoid&rdquo;, which sums up pretty well the type of people here. They&rsquo;re a crazy, and enjoyable bunch, each with their own personalities. It&rsquo;s definitely not one size fits all, and we are all encouraged to play to our own strengths.
I&rsquo;d hate to wax too lyrical about it, but working for Eligo genuinely feels like a big supportive family and that makes us all want to work harder and better. Whether it be competing for the best decorated Christmas pod of desks or introducing colleagues to your clients who may specialise in a different area of their business, everything is both collaborative and rewarding. Working in Recruitment isn&rsquo;t easy, but with direct support from the Directors and the team around you, it is much easier.
This spirit extends to after working hours too. In my time here we&rsquo;ve enjoyed all manners of nights out in fancy dress, attended live music nights where an impromptu encore of &ldquo;Don&rsquo;t look back in anger&rdquo; was sung by all Eligoids, and had great incentives along the way. There&rsquo;s so many little touches working at Eligo that make it such a great place to work, things you&rsquo;d immediately question why you had never had them before after joining.
Whilst my field of Recruitment often leads to me taking inspiration from Steve Jobs and of course dealing with all things Apple Mac, I saw a quote the other day about how Google cultivates a community-like workplace and why it is so successful; &ldquo;It&rsquo;s important that the company be a family, that people feel that they&rsquo;re part of the company, and that the company is like a family to them.&rdquo; For me, Eligo is just like that, and it&rsquo;s the reason why we really are the best overall business and employer of the year!
For anyone who feels recruitment is the career for them but their employer would struggle to win an employer of the year award, I would suggest you try Eligo, as for me, it really is not only the Employer of the Year&nbsp;but the best I&rsquo;ve ever had.

What’s it like working in recruitment at Eligo?

Last week the Eligo Medical team attended the&nbsp;<a style="color: #e5287d; background-color: transparent;" href="http://www.bestpracticeshow.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Best Practice Show</a>&nbsp;at the NEC in Birmingham, an event Keynote speaker Jeremy Hunt, the Secretary of State for Health, labelled &ldquo;the most important primary care conference in the year&rdquo;.
Amongst the other messages in his address, Hunt called Primary Care the &ldquo;most exciting place to be in the NHS, both today and over the coming years&rdquo;. After 2 days spent meeting hundreds of GPs, Nurses, and Practice Managers from all over the country, we can most definitely say that both of these statements ring true.
As specialists in Primary Care Recruitment and Locum Jobs we loved the opportunity to engage with the medical professionals we work with daily on a personal level and further understand their problems, needs, and what we can do to help.
For us, the event started the night before the conference with the set-up of our stand, which, being only 4 foot 9, was eventful to say the least! Luckily I had the rest of the lovely Eligo Medical team there to help and we successfully prepared for the conference ahead.
Located on stand K80, close to GP Theatre A and Theatre 1, it was great to be able to chat with the growing crowds of GPs gathering for the mass of excellent lectures, seminars, and talks that had been arranged. We were also excited about some new additions to our stand including sweet dispensers, and a raffle we were running to win Apple Watches, Phone Chargers, Hand Sanitiser and more.
Throughout the 2 days which Best Practice ran, the importance of the Primary Care workforce was continually emphasised along with how GPs can be central to the transformation of our healthcare system. This was particularly relevant as the conference fell on the same date as Fab Change Day, a day for collective action by NHS staff to demonstrate the difference they can make.
Meeting so many passionate GPs and Nurses, we&rsquo;d definitely agree with this sentiment. We spoke to so many new and existing clients and candidates that Christina actually had almost lost her voice by the end of the show.

Overall, our time at the Best Practice show was an amazing experience, so much so that we have already booked a spot at next year&rsquo;s show where we hope to meet all those that we met this year and hopefully some new faces too. Jeremy Hunt said in his keynote speech that we all need to &ldquo;bang the drum for primary care&rdquo; and that is something we will keep on doing for a long time.

Bang the drum for Primary Care: Eligo Medical Recruitment at Best Practice

A couple of month&rsquo;s after initially being announced as finalists and more than a couple of outfit choices later, the Merton Best Business awards finally arrived last night where we were up for the Employer of the Year award.
We&rsquo;re absolutely delighted to say that not only did we walk away with the Employer of the Year award but in what was a huge surprise to us all on the night, scooped the Best Overall Business award as well!
The awards come as a huge achievement for the company, demonstrating the progress we have made since initially forming in 2001 with a clear prerogative&nbsp;to found a company where our staff would enjoy coming to work. In the time since, we&rsquo;ve seen the company grow to include Eligo Technology, Eligo Fire &amp; Security, Eligo Medical, and Eligo Events, encompassing over 25 staff.
Taking place at the prestigious and local All England Lawn Tennis Club, the awards gala was not only extremely entertaining (featuring yet another Conga!) but an excellent opportunity to showcase Merton&rsquo;s wide array of top businesses, of which we&rsquo;re proud to be one. We&rsquo;d happily say that this year&rsquo;s awards were the best yet, with so many of these high-quality businesses in attendance celebrating the tremendous achievements of everyone recognised.
Both the Employer of the Year and Best Overall Business awards come at a fantastic time for us as we seek to continue to grow our sectors. As the night proved Merton and the surrounding areas is abrim with talented individuals, and these awards serve as an excellent opportunity to spread the word about Eligo and the benefits of working here. The Merton Best awards finally arrived last night, with some of the Eligoids here donning their dinner jackets and cocktail dresses ready for the borough&rsquo;s prestigious business showcase! We&rsquo;re absolutely delighted to say we were crowned Best Business in SW19 and Best Enterprising Business at the awards!
We&rsquo;ve come a long way since our formation in 2001, growing into a company with 5 division and over 25 staff, all of whom love their job and have a passion and knowledge for their respective markets. We&rsquo;re extremely proud of the recognition of our entrepreneurial nature, caring for our staff, work with the local community, and success, that these awards bring.
Taking place at the All England Lawn Tennis Club, the Awards Gala featured singing waiters, Champagne Funk &ndash; a band formed by students of South Thames College, our apprenticeship partner -, a tasty 3 course meal, and of course celebrations a plenty!

<blockquote>Once we have found you, the perfect candidate for an open source job role, we need to ensure that the company is the right match for you and you are the right match for the company &ndash; it&rsquo;s how we make sure you&rsquo;ll be happy to wake up on Mondays, and the company will be happy to see you there! Part of this process is understanding how hiring managers think and what they are looking for in an open source job candidate.</blockquote>
We have further talks to come including workshops on&nbsp;Agile, one of our client&rsquo;s specific products and the infrastructure behind it, and plenty on&nbsp;Linux!
Each of these talks and workshops is being delivered by leading industry figures with our open-source recruitment team already reaping many benefits from them.
We are able to pass this knowledge on to our clients, with a particular understanding of open source developers and experience within the market, advising on topics such as how to interview well and sell an open job role to the candidate (remember hiring is a two-way process!). In the coming weeks, I will be visiting Foxtons to do just this, and give my very own Rick Talks on these subjects.

Rick Talks: Understanding the Open Source Job Market

Following on from our recent selection as finalists in 4 categories in the Merton Best Business Awards including Best Enterprising Business, Best Business in Wimbledon, Best Business in SW19, and Best Customer Service, we&rsquo;re extremely proud to announce that we have now been selected finalists as Staffing Agency of the Year in the General Practice Awards!
&nbsp;
It&rsquo;s been a busy year and a half since Eligo Medical&rsquo;s formation, growing to a team of 4, introducing dedicated in-house payroll as well as a compliance officer, whilst building excellent relationships with clients and candidates throughout.
&nbsp;
We&rsquo;ve extended our services to clients and candidates across a whole host of primary care providers through both the private sector and NHS. Ranging from single local practices to multiple location social enterprises, we&rsquo;re proud of our work with each of them.
&nbsp;
Summer further saw us host our first annual local networking event during the famous tennis championships here in Wimbledon! &lsquo;Pimms O&rsquo;clock&rsquo; gave us the opportunity to meet some of our GPs and Practice Nurses as well as the individuals behind the Surgeries and Primary Care Providers we work to match them with. We had a lot of fun and enjoyed building further on our relationship with our clients and candidates, we hope that those who came did too!
