In our ongoing celebration of International Women’s Day 2025, we feature Claire Adamou, Vice President at Saroca & Head of Operations at American iGaming Solutions.
In an industry that is constantly evolving, strong leadership is key to driving innovation and inclusivity. Claire Adamou, Vice President at Saroca and Head of Operations at American iGaming Solutions, has spent nearly 20 years shaping the iGaming sector. Her journey is one of resilience, ambition, and a commitment to making the industry a better place for future generations.
A Career That Chose Her
Claire’s path into iGaming wasn’t one she planned—it was one that found her. In 2006, she applied for an Office Manager position at an online casino, knowing little about the sector. But the company saw something in her, offering her a role as an Affiliate Manager. It was a turning point that launched a two-decade career in an industry she now can’t imagine leaving.
“I never set out to work in iGaming, but once I was in, I knew I had found my place. The fast pace, the innovation, and the incredible people in the industry make it a space I never want to leave.”
Breaking Barriers and Overcoming Challenges
Like many women in iGaming, Claire has encountered biases along the way.
“I've lost count of how many times people have asked my age,” she shares. “I’ve never heard anyone ask my male colleagues that question, yet for women, there’s still this underlying perception that age determines competence.”
Beyond these microaggressions, Claire has also had to navigate inappropriate behaviour in professional settings.
“For a long time, I didn’t talk about it. But silence creates shame, and it stops progress. We need to keep pushing for change and ensuring that women feel safe, valued, and respected in the workplace.”
Her advice to women entering the industry is clear:
“Know your boundaries and don’t be afraid to use your voice. Be your own biggest advocate, whether it’s for a promotion, a pay rise, or speaking up when something isn’t right.”
Championing Change and Mentorship
As a leader, Claire is committed to fostering a more inclusive and supportive iGaming community. She is part of various women’s initiatives, including SheEO and Global Gaming Women, and actively mentors the next generation of professionals.
Her passion for development led her to become Vice President at Saroca, where she uses her coaching expertise to help future leaders navigate the industry.
“When I started, there were no women role models in my space. Now, I have the chance to change that for the next generation. Mentorship is one of the most powerful tools for breaking down barriers and ensuring that talent is recognised and nurtured.”
Career Highlights and Proudest Achievements
Claire has had a remarkable career filled with milestones, but one of her proudest moments was training as a life coach in 2020 and bringing those skills into iGaming.
“Going back to school in 2020 to train as a life coach was one of my proudest moments. I wanted to use those skills to help future leaders in the industry, offering guidance I never had when I was starting out.”
Her career has been marked by leadership roles, industry recognition, and active involvement in shaping the sector. From being nominated for multiple awards to serving as a judge at the iGB Affiliate Awards and the Most Influential Women Awards, she continues to leave a lasting impact.
The Future of Women in iGaming
Claire is optimistic about where the industry is headed. With an increasing number of female-led initiatives, networks, and leadership programs, the landscape is changing.
“There’s still work to do, but I believe the future CEO of a major iGaming company will be a woman—it’s only a matter of time.”
Driving Lasting Change
With nearly two decades in the industry, Claire Adamou has seen iGaming evolve in ways she never imagined. Through her leadership, advocacy, and mentorship, she is ensuring that the next wave of women in iGaming have the support, opportunities, and representation they deserve.
By breaking barriers, amplifying voices, and pushing for real change, she continues to inspire the industry to move forward—not just for the women in it today, but for those who will follow
