‘Ring of steel’ to be improved

Fire & Security jobs and news: ‘wholesale remodeling’ of the CCTV and ANPRCity of London Police proposed a 21st-century version of The Traffic and Environmental Zone, commonly known as the “ring of steel“, first set up in the 1990s. While the first ‘ring’ captured the details of cars entering the Square Mile, the proposed new ‘ring’ would go one step further and do personal surveillance. The ‘ring’ would be part of a ‘Secure City’ programme. Proposed changes are a ‘wholesale remodeling’ of the CCTV and ANPR, which would support the introduction of a joint command and control room with the local authority, the Corporation of London.

Sensors comprised over half of all building automation hardware units sold in 2017, and over 1.5 million more sensors will be installed in building automation systems in 2018 compared to those sold in 2016. As more sensors compile greater amounts of data, it is becoming more challenging for facility managers to analyse and interpret the available information.
