Facial recognition will make football matches safer

Eligo Security: Access control jobs and news: Facial recognition will make football matches saferThe technology began to be used in 2017 in the three most important stadiums in Uruguay. Its use is contributing to the identification of unauthorised persons when accessing football matches. Dozens of cameras protect fans and watch over security actively and very effectively. If an alert is generated, the information is sent in real time to the devices of the police responsible for the system to prevent the access of unauthorised persons. With the aim of providing coverage to the rest of the stadiums, a system of portable facial identification was also implemented, which is transported to the scenarios in which other games are played.

Fire & Security News & Jobs: CCTV & Access Control: Safe classroom successful studentsAccording to researchers, if students feel unsafe, it’s likely to affect their performance. However, because there’s no single, “one size fits all” answer to security, implementing the “right” solution may seem like a minefield. There are a number of baseline protocols to uphold to ensure classroom security is kept at an all-time high. Particular aspects that ought to be given consideration are the severity and probability of any potential risks, the effectiveness of mitigating potential risks, the ability of staff to implement lockdown, and the school’s budget.

Cladding safety tests are not replicating real-world conditions

Eligo Fire & Security; Fire engineering jobs and industry news: GrenfellCurrent testing methods are in need of “urgent review”, the Fire Protection Association (FPA) has warned, after the ABI found that real-life fires could burn at temperatures 100C higher than those reached in cladding safety tests. Experiments also found that building fires could spread faster and persist longer than those created under lab conditions. “The results of this important research confirm long-held concerns by many in the fire sector that the current cladding test standard requires urgent review to ensure that systems that pass are reflective of the systems that are installed and of the risks to which they are exposed”.

Cyber Security threat to manufacturers

Eligo Fire & Security: CCTV and Access Control manufacturers jobs and news: Cyber Security threat to manufacturersAccording to a report by EEF, a trade association of manufacturers, nearly half of manufacturers have been the victim of cyber-crime, and a quarter have suffered some financial loss or disruption to business as a result. The manufacturing sector is the third most targeted for attack, with only government systems and finance being more vulnerable, and is amongst the least protected sectors against cyber-crime in Britain. Cyber threat is holding back companies from investing in digital technologies, with a third of those surveyed nervous of digital improvement.

And to ensure the fire and rescue services can evacuate people quickly, the continuity of power, which keeps emergency lighting and alarm systems functioning, is essential. The choice of cabling to power these functions cannot be taken lightly and should be specified in at the earliest opportunity.
