Fingerprint sensors for smartphones to hit 100 million units

 

 

Eligo Fire & Security News: Access control /Biometrics news and jobs: Fingerprint sensors for smartphones to hit 100 million unitsAccording to the latest research by IHS Markit, smartphone brands are expected to increase their adoption of under-display fingerprint sensors, which allow phones to have full-screen displays with an invisible fingerprint feature. Shipments of smartphones using ‘under-display fingerprint sensor’ is forecast to reach at least 9 million units in 2018 and top 100 million units by 2019. The market will keep growing remarkably for the next three years, led by Samsung Electronics and Chinese smartphone brands such as Vivo, Huawei and Xiaomi.

 Amazon getting stronger within security industry

Eligo Fire & Security recruitment agency: Industry News: IHS Markit researchers estimated that in 2017 only 2.9 percent of professionally monitored security systems in the Americas region were do-it-yourself (DIY) installations. The penetration rate of professionally monitored/DIY systems is expected an increase to 5.5% by 2022. The Amazon security packages could turn out to be a unique hybrid approach. In their current format, the security packages being offered by Amazon will not likely take a lot of business away from professional security providers. However, if a keypad, key fob and highly competitive remote monitoring pricing are added to the security packages, then the professional security market will be in for significant disruption due to the price point and devices offered.

Engineers of Tomorrow at IFSEC 2018

Eligo Fire & Security jobs & news: Engineers of tomorrow at IFSEC 2018Skills for Security, the sector skills body for the private security sector, is pitting security apprentices against each other in a live installation challenge at IFSEC 2018. A skills challenge designed to find the UK’s best security apprentice, Engineers of Tomorrow sees over 60 young security engineers – working in teams of two – competing for the title; and a £1,000 prize. Engineers of Tomorrow runs over all three days of IFSEC, at ExCeL in London Docklands from Tuesday to Thursday, June 19 to 21.

US companies are not GDPR ready

Minimum you need to do before GDPRA new survey by Comp TIA shows that significant percentage of U.S. companies are uncertain about or unprepared for the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) that takes effect from 25th May 2018. The survey also finds that U.S. companies are split on whether GDPR will impact their business opportunities in the EU. About one-third of the firms surveyed do not believe GDPR will have an impact on their current or future approach to business in the EU. Another third indicate GDPR may negatively impact their desire to engage in business activities in countries governed by GDPR. The remaining one-third of firms are unsure.
