Global Physical Security Product Sales are growing

Security industry is continuously growing - latest industry news by our Fire & Security recruitment consultants According to the latest research by Memoori, the total value of world production of Physical Security products at factory gate prices in 2018 was approximately $31.55Bn, and the market is forecast to reach $44.25Bn in 2023 at a CAGR of 7.2% over the next 5 years. We estimate that China accounts for approx. 31% of the worlds physical security business.  However very little of this vast expanding market has been of benefit to western manufacturers as they have failed to establish a solid business base and significant market share in China. The report also shows that in 2018, mergers and acquisition activity in Physical Security totaled $7.33Bn (16% up), which looks like the start of a new wave of growth.

Fire engineering role and latest news: A smoke alarm playing a recording of a mother’s voiceIn a study published in the Journal of Paediatrics, researchers from the Center for Injury Research and Policy and the Sleep Disorders Center at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in the United States found that a sleeping child was about three times more likely to be awakened by a smoke alarm playing a human voice than one with a regular tone. The alarms using the mother’s voice awakened 86-91% of children and prompted 84-86% to “escape” from the bedroom, compared with 53% awakened and 51% escaped for the tone alarm. “These new findings put us one step closer to finding a smoke alarm that will be effective for children and practical for parents.”
