Senior WebSphere Support Specialist

Senior Technology Specialist, Middleware Apps

The role will involve working closely with the Middleware Apps Team Manager and Technical Consultant along with the Digital Platform Support Team, providing the technical sme bridge between the companies legacy platform and new Digital one to ensure best practices are adapted and there is a seamless approach to progress which will positively impact Customers. This will also involve planned and effective training of all staff to provide a first class support to the existing and Digital infrastructure platforms.

Their work is highly specialised, high profile and fast paced, so you will be expected to self-manage in a professional and proactive manner in conjunction with your Manager who will assign your tasks.

The role is all about…

  • Thinking "outside the box" and doing things a little differently to get results
  • Supporting live service through proactive identification of risk, swift resolution of live issues and proposing appropriate fixes/improvements for future - across the companies legacy platform and our new Digital one
  • Providing consultancy to Infrastructure Designers and the Digital Platform Support Team to ensure solutions meet the organisation's strategic needs as they undertake their Digital journey
  • Provide consultancy and input to application test and live deployments including shakedown and problem resolution
  • Collaborating with internal and external parties in order to provide excellent customer service
  • Improving the companies processes through process automation, innovation and continuous improvement.

We need you to have…

  • Practical experience of any or all of the companies supported technologies:
    • IBM WebSphere Application Server/ Websphere eXtreme Scale/ HTTP Server/ WebSphere Portal
    • IBM DataPower
  • Practical experience of Java Applications (both packaged and internally developed)
  • Exposure to J2EE Development framework
  • Excellent Scripting and automation skills (Bash, Jenkins, Python, etc )
  • Messaging (IBM MQ, Flume, Logstash, Kafka etc)
  • Experience of monitoring tools, frameworks and processes (AppDynamics, Patrol etc).
