IT Systems Team Leader - Windows / Infrastructure
Circa £65,000

We are sourcing a Windows Systems Team Leader for our client in Hertfordshire.

We require a Windows / Microsoft Specialist to join the business as the IT Systems Team Leader, focused solely on their Windows Technologies and Infrastructure.

You will be leading a team of highly skilled Windows Systems engineers ensuring the business has support 24x7x365

As the Team Leader you will be tasked with supporting, educating, and leading the team, ensuring they have the right knowledge, tools and support to support the business at all times

Key Role Responsibilities

  • Working with and leading, coaching, mentoring and developing a team of Windows platform experts.
  • Supporting production systems as required outside of standard working hours and participate in 24x7 on-call rota
  • Design, engineering, implementing and administering of the Windows infrastructure including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and printing
  • Leading and working as part of ad-hoc teams to resolve problems and implement projects
  • Providing 3rd line support to operations teams
  • Identifying and addressing automation opportunities with Powershell and 3rd party tools
  • Create and maintain high-quality Runbook documentation
  • Actively contributing to the process of continual improvement, with regard to self, team and systems

Essential Experience

  • Experience of leading and demonstrably coaching a Windows team in an enterprise environment.
  • A methodical and logical approach to problem solving with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Deep knowledge of Microsoft Windows server environments including design work
  • Competent scripting and an overview of automation with Powershell
  • Experience in administering Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, domain security
  • Exposure to Public / Private Cloud services
  • Understanding general email infrastructure
  • Experience of supporting 24x7 enterprise-grade operations
  • University degree in Computer Science or equivalent

Additional nice to haves include:

  • Understanding of virtualisation technologies such as VMware ESX and Openstack
  • Knowledge of Windows SQL server
  • Experience of migration to Windows Server 2016
  • Knowledge of Citrix XenApp and thin client technologies
  • Professional certifications such as Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert
  • Experience in Windows deployment and configuration systems
  • Good experience of ITIL and or DevOps processes in a Blue Chip environment
