Free movement of EU citizens will end March 2019

According to a spokesperson for Downing Street, free movement of EU citizens to Britain will end in March 2019. This could pose a significant threat to the UK technology industry, which has typically criticised the negative effects Brexit would have on businesses’ access to European tech talent. The news comes after Chancellor Phillip Hammond suggested on Friday that full controls would take time to put in place, later fuelling speculation that free movement of EU nationals would continue during a transitional post Brexit period.

Amber Rudd issues rallying call to tech firms to tackle extremism

Home secretary Amber Rudd has echoed calls from the Prime Minister for internet giants to do more to crack down on extremism and is set to meet with tech firms in Silicon Valley to discuss a potential solution. The Cabinet minister will be attending the inaugural Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism in San Francisco today. The Home Office has also set up meetings with Google, Facebook, Twitter, Microsoft, WhatsApp and Apple.

The future is now people. Domino’s has enabled voice-activated Amazon Echo ordering in the UK, meaning you can now have a pizza delivered without lifting a finger. Users can ask Alexa via the Echo or Dot devices to ‘launch Domino’s’ which will then put in contact with the pizza brand’s AI personality Dom, who will respond to their queries in a fun way – reflecting the brands own tone of voice.

The Visual Studio Mobile Center is bringing mobile developers a new service for their applications. Microsoft announced that CodePush is now part of the Visual Studio Mobile Centre family. The Visual Studio Mobile Centre is a mission control solution for mobile applications. It is designed to provide developers with faster release cycles, better quality apps, and more time to be more productive.
