Google faces mass legal action in UK over data snooping

Google is being taken to court, accused of collecting the personal data of millions of users, in the first mass legal action of its kind in the UK. Allegations say that Google unlawfully harvested information form 5.4 million UK users by bypassing privacy settings on their iPhones. The group that is taking action against the tech giant – Google You Owe Us – is led by ex-Which director Richard Lloyd. The complaint is that for several months in 2011 and 2012 Google placed ad-tracking cookies on the devices of Safari users which is set by default.

OutSystems releases a low-code debugging solution OutSystems releases a low-code debugging solution

OutSystems is releasing a new-low code visual debugger, that will allow users to troubleshoot code that is running server-side or on mobile devices. According to the company, low-code solutions allow teams to deliver solutions 10 times faster than if they were coding the whole thing; but currently, there aren’t really any good low-code platforms for debugging. With this new capability, users can create and troubleshoot any type of applications and reduce the risk of a critical mobile initiative.

On December 2rd 1992, 22-year-old Neil Papworth sent the first ever Short Message Service (SMS) from a computer to his colleague. While it’s hard to imagine life without the humble text message, it will be a quarter of a century since the messaging format was invented. To celebrate, the British programmer behind the pioneering message has recreated it with a modern twist. The original message, which said ‘Merry Christmas’, has been re-created with emoji by Mr Papworth as a homage to the first ever SMS.

Tesla switches on the world’s biggest battery

Elon Musk’s Tesla turned on its huge lithium-ion battery in Australia today. The 100-megawatt (MW) battery, which is the worlds largest, was built by Tesla in rural South Australia after Musk wagered a bet that he could build it in 100 days or the state would receive it for free. Tesla’s battery is not delivering power to Australia’s national electricity grid.
