Recruiter Biography:

My education and career started in Communications and Marketing, gaining valuable public and private sector experience. In 2005 after a stint travelling the world I, as many do, fell into a recruitment job, working at Eligo in the Events and Marketing sector.

After four very happy years as a Recruitment Consultant at Eligo I moved back into the Marketing field to work with one of my clients. As Sponsorship Account Manager and Event Manager, I was very lucky to work with many big brands and personalities including O2, Michel Roux and Jamie Oliver, on events such as Taste Festivals, Big Feastival and Top Gear.

Now I am in my dream job, back working with my Eligo family using both my recruitment and marketing skills and knowledge. My passion for recruitment and marketing means I really enjoy my job! I am driven by results and the bottom line and my position here both challenges and rewards me on that front.

love letter to recruitment

Roses are red, violets aren't blue, and recruitment is that relationship looked down upon by those surrounding you. Yep, recruitment sometimes doesn’t have the best rap having gained a reputation from a select few as an industry that plays fast and loose, often doing no more than sending across a CV and bombarding the phone with calls. If we were casting industries for a Jane Austen novel, it's unlikely recruitment would be chosen to play Mr Darcy. For those that love what they do in recruitment, however, it's an unfair reputation and often people don’t understand the efforts and highs and lows that go into the job every day. As such we’re abandoning the cheesy poems and asked...

ex-and-recruitment-job

Relationships have their highs and lows; they can feel like the greatest thing in the world (and remain that way), however we’ve most likely all been in a relationship where you hit a realisation that it’s not going that way, you’ve become comfortable but not happy, and are left pondering the lost months (or years). It’s not like there wasn’t warning signs. There was the pushiness, the moment when things stopped being equal and more about them, the lack of trust. Even on your side there was that time where you downloaded tinder just to swipe right a couple of times and see what else there was out there. Despite this you were wary about leaving. Thoughts began to cloud your...

international-womens-day

Today across the world people are celebrating International Women’s Day, an event first put forward to advance Women’s suffrage over a century ago. One hundred years on we celebrate women’s contribution across the world, and look ahead, with this year’s theme centred around the United Nations “Planet 50-50 by 2030”, seeking to achieve empowerment and equality across the world over the next 15 years. As it stands, the numbers are surprising; today women only hold a fifth of parliamentary seats in the UK, make up only 19 out of 196 heads of state, and are estimated to earn over £300,000 less than men over their working lives. The UN’s goal is clear; “to achieve the...

mobile job hunting eligo website

Rewind about 20 years (if you’re old enough!). Do you remember the old days when you’d be sitting at your desk looking through the post at the CVs you’d received that day having a little laugh about that chap who applied for EVERY single one you’d advertised in the local paper? ‘God, how annoying’ you’d moan as you wrote ‘no’ or ‘reject’ on his (many) covering letters. Now move forward a little to the early days of job boards. Do you remember getting utterly swamped in applications from candidates all over the world who had no relevant skills and certainly no visa to work in the UK? That really was annoying. Having to ineptly at first, trawl through hundreds of...

How to answer STAR interview question

The STAR interview format is often used by employers who hold structured competency based interviews but understanding STAR can help you be the STAR in any interview.  So first things first . . . what is STAR? Situation Task Action Result This format is a universally recognised technique for assessing responses in an interview setting.  Some interviewers use STAR to score you based on how well you communicate your answer across each element of STAR. They do not always disclose that they are using this technique, in which case you could be losing ‘points’ without knowing. More forgiving interviewers give you advance warning of a competency based interview, in which...

International Women's Day Recruitment

Today marks International Women's Day, celebrating the achievements of women and calling for greater gender equality throughout the world. Observed since the early 1900's when women in many countries still did not have full voting rights, this year's theme is "Make It Happen" encouraging action for advancing and recognising all women. Though gender equality has come on a great deal since then, it is still a major challenge across all areas of life, with much work still to do. You may have seen recent campaigns including the HeforShe Campaign, a global movement of men supporting gender equality, supported by celebrities such as Emma Watson, Steve Carell, and David Tennant, whilst...
