The Eligo Security and Fire team enjoyed another successful event, exhibiting at IFSEC International at London ExCel this year.
It was new ground for everyone involved with the 41st annual IFSEC event moving to its original home of London for the first time in many years.
IFSEC 2014 was the star attraction within the Protection Management Series, which hosts 6 events spanning 34,000m² of London ExCel centre, combining around 1600 exhibitors and over 45,000 visitors having access to all of the events during the 3 day period in Junes.
We were busy on our stand taking details of companies that are growing and need help finding the best people in the market, as well as candidates who are interested to know what is going on in the market.
The team were also busy on the exhibition floor catching up both with the new technologies in the market such as 4K but also with many familiar faces that we have worked with in the past who were either exhibiting or we had arranged meetings with.
Was London the right move?
We found that all 3 days had steady footfall, Wednesday being the stand out day for numbers of people whereas typically in Birmingham the numbers tended to peak at certain times and towards the end of the day die down.
Facilities – Being a purpose built modern exhibition venue, ExCel has alot to offer in this department, we found it easy to find places to eat or to grab a coffee without having to queue too much, plus the choice of restaurants in the evening within striking distance is phenomenal, we took the Emirates Airline to the O2 Dome one evening for a team meal and highly recommend giving it a go!
Transport Links/Location – Being in London makes the show more accessible for international visitors giving them options to fly in to any of the London Airports, London City being next door to the venue, I spoke to a few of my contacts who had managed to get very reasonable flights there. For the rest of us, the Docklands isn’t the easiest place to get to unless you are that side of the M25, I do believe that the move put off a number of Installers from Birmingham north who would have driven down for a day however we did speak with people who had traveled from as far as Scotland via train with the DLR links being very convenient and I feel the move to London allowed a number of End Users based in the city to pop in that previously wouldn’t have done.
The Exhibition itself… – Having spoken to a number of exhibitors since, the general feedback has been positive, although perhaps less enquiries the consensus has been that the quality of lead was better, the stands were packed closer together which perhaps contributed to the heat in the exhibition hall but hopefully a solution can be found for that next year, We also personally felt that the extended opening hours were a good idea and allowed us to catch up and enjoy a beer on the stand with some of our key clients.
The data has been collated, uploaded and everyone has been contacted. So far we
have added just over 25 new live job vacancies to the system and made contact with 47 new security & fire candidates, with more active leads to still develop. So our network of strong industry contacts & candidates across Engineering, Sales, Design, Projects & Management etc is stronger than ever and we are looking forward to our next events –
