This week in our Fire & Security industry news round-up we cover the huge CSL acquisition of Emizon, barriers to greater adoption of biometrics, the growth of Hospital Security Systems market and more….
CSL is acquiring Emizon Networks
“Both businesses have different areas of expertise but are aligned strategically. The combination will allow us to provide a broader and better service to our existing customers as well as accelerate our plans to enter new sectors and expand internationally.” Emizon provides the most modern, cost effective and secure alarm signaling and monitoring service to the remote security and alarm industry and with their offices in Australia and Benelux, the acquisition will underpin CSL’s international growth ambitions.

Barriers to greater adoption of biometrics
“Hardly the credential revolution that manufacturers were hoping for.” Access control industry stakeholders have eagerly anticipated the prospect of finally eliminating cards from their systems since the first fingerprint readers came to market. 10 years later, biometric reader sales accounted for just 30 percent of access control reader sales in the Americas. Global Hospital Security Systems Market’s growth
According to the latest research published by Meticulous Research, the global hospital security systems market which is currently worth $5.27 Billion, will reach $10.83 Billion by 2021, at an estimated CAGR of 15.5% during the forecast period. In the coming five years, video surveillance & analytics as well as biometrics access control offers huge potential to the growth of this market, while integrated security systems are looked upon as promising opportunity areas for hospital security systems market in future.
New Security Planning System at London Luton Airport
In order to improve the efficiency of the security search area, LLA has announced a new contract with Copenhagen Optimization (CopOpt) to introduce its Better Security platform. Last year, passenger numbers grew by 18.5%. To meet this increased demand, the airport says it is carrying out the biggest investment in its history to expand annual capacity and upgrade the terminal building. Improvements to the security area are a key part of this transformation, to allow the operations team to manage the increased passenger numbers.
Physical Security within the Internet of Things – where and how?
IoT specialists say that we are at the stage where all physical security products will eventually sit on one common network that joins up all the sensors and devices in a building. It’s called the Building Internet of Things (BIoT). Bringing all this together is a mammoth technical task requiring just a few common communication protocols in order to make it practical to deliver the scale that will make it commercially viable.
The importance of audio analytics within security
Surveillance is not just about video anymore. Modern security systems are increasingly making use of audio in ensuring their solutions are as secure as possible. Industry specialist says that audio analytics is an important facet of the modern security surveillance solution because it enables data monitoring and conversion to meaningful information for early detection and prevention. It provides an early and sometimes first warning to staff so that they can intervene before the situation escalates.
