Grenfell Tower Fire – ‘Disaster waiting to happen’
A 2015 survey by the Fire Sector Federation, a forum for fire and rescue organisations, found that 92% of its members believed the regulations were “long overdue an overhaul”, claiming that they do not reflect today’s design and construction methods and that research underpinning the guidance is out of date. An architect and fire expert Sam Webb describes hundreds of tower blocks across the UK, after the fire at Grenfell Tower in Kensington. “We are still wrapping postwar high-rise buildings in highly flammable materials and leaving them without sprinkler systems installed, then being surprised when they burn down.”

Euralarm Symposium 2017: F&S industries transformation
The Euralarm Symposium 2017 brought together nearly a hundred electronic fire safety and security experts and representatives from the Industry. It made a clear point that fire safety and security will be transformed by services standards and related developments in digital services. The Euralarm Symposium 2017, took place in London and was supported by the British Security Industry Association and the Fire Industry Association.

Dubai Airport soon to have the world’s first “gate-less border”
“Seamless entry at international airports has been an idea for many years, but it is the advent of the identity trust framework provided by blockchain technology which means for the first time, this is now possible”. The government of Dubai has signed a new agreement with UK-based blockchain startup ObjectTech to develop digital passports for entry at Dubai International Airport, the world’s busiest airport by international passenger traffic.
