Merger & acquisition within the Physical Security Business

Fire & Security Industry news & jobs: Merger & acquisition within the Physical Security Business Based on M&A data collected over the last 17 years on the Physical Security industry, the annual report by Memoori shows a general upward trend in consolidation of the industry over this period with 4 cycles of rise and fall sometimes exaggerated by a number of billion-dollar mega deals. The total value of deals in 2017 was $6.213 billion, although this was only a one third of the $19.73Bn realized in the previous year, if we take our the Johnson Controls / Tyco merger then it’s almost double the size by value and 30% more by number of deals than in 2016. Memoori forecasts, that 2017 will be the start of a new wave of growth that will reach $7.85Bn by 2022.

Surveillance video storage market is growing

 

our Fire & Security recruiters present: Surveillance video storage marketIHS Markit predicts that in 2018 over 130 million video surveillance cameras will be shipped globally. This number has increased dramatically from 2006 when shipments were less than 10 million. The increase in demand for video surveillance cameras has subsequently caused growth in associated storage requirements. The market for external storage systems (SAN, NAS and external DAS) used for storing video surveillance data is estimated to have been worth $1.7 billion in 2017. As with the video surveillance equipment market, the largest regional market for these storage systems is in China.

British prisons vs drones

 

British prisons vs drones in our Fire & Security News by our recruitment consultantsDrones have become a major security problem in Britain’s prisons and are increasingly used to smuggle in drugs, weapons, phones and other valuables. A Channel Island prison has become the first in the world to use a new system designed to stop that. A group of British companies has collaborated to install a comprehensive perimeter protection package at Les Nicolles Prison on Guernsey, including the new “Sky Fence” technology. It creates a 600m shield around the prison to detect remote-controlled drones then uses a series of ‘disruptors’ – sensors to jam the drone’s computer – to block its frequency and control protocols and divert it back to where it came from.
